Sept 24, 2025, Message from Marilyn

Hello Indivisibles,

I am delighted to announce our next big Members’ Event and Community Open House.  We have an exciting Speaker lined up, and A Band!!  So here’s the details:

WHAT: PRO-DEMOCRACY CELEBRATION

WHEN:  OCTOBER 7TH, FROM 5:00 – 7:30 PM   (DOORS OPEN AT 4:30)

WHERE:  SNOW FARM VINEYARDS, 190 WEST SHORE RD, SOUTH HERO

DETAILS:

The Vermont Attorney General, Charity Clark will be our guest Speaker.  Her office currently has 27 lawsuits ongoing against the Trump Administration.  She is truly a Rock Star in the fight against the unlawful, corrupt, and unconstitutional actions of the Administration against the State of Vermont and Vermont citizens and American democracy.  As you can imagine, she is a busy woman, but she has agreed to make time to come give us a brief overview of what her office is doing in this struggle, and how it affects us.  She will be taking questions after she speaks.

After the Attorney General, we will turn the floor over to  ….. the band!  We have the immense good fortune to have Mango Jam playing for us that evening.  Many of you are familiar with them, but for those of you who aren’t, they are a local Zydeco and New Orleans inspired dance band and you won’t need a seat when they get going!

It is all happening in the huge “wedding” tent at Snow Farm Vineyards.  If the weather is fine, the tent flaps will be open,  If it is grumpy, the flaps will be closed and, if necessary, the heat will be on.  Seating will be at large, round tables.  Snow Farm has plenty of parking!  The tent holds 200.  We have no idea how many will turn up.

The doors (well, flaps, actually) will open at 4:30.  You can buy a glass of wine or beer or soft drinks from Snow Farm, grab a snack (we plan to have some sandwich wraps and cookies), find a table and meet your neighbors.  We will also have Indivisible Champlain Islands t-shirts ($15), mugs ($8) and yard signs ($20) available.  Please bring cash.  It is also possible to pay on ActBlue.

The Program starts at 5:00 pm.  We will give some brief Champlain Islands Indivisible news and updates and then we will Introduce AG Clark.  She will fill us in on what her office is doing and then take your questions.  The band will take the floor when she finishes.  There is no charge.  (But we will of course have our donation jar out).

This is a big event for us.  We will be inviting the wider community, as well as our members.  One of our goals is to help more people find out about Indivisible Champlain Islands and join us in the struggle.  We are only powerful because we join together in ever larger numbers.  So tell your friends about the event.  Invite your neighbors.  Spread the word.

Because this is a heavy lift for us, we can use some help from some of you.  This is the only really big event we foresee for a while because winter weather will mean indoor events only, after this.

What we need:

SPONSORS: Both Snow Farm and Mango Jam have been incredibly generous in supporting our cause and are giving us big discounts.  But they cannot be totally free.

The venue will cost $300

The band will cost   $500

The food will cost    $450   (this is still an estimate)

We still have some funds from your prior donations, but this, plus some other expenses, will wipe them out.  If you wish to contribute to any of these expenses, you can donate at our ActBlue page that you can find on our website: IndivisibleCI.com.  Or you can contact us to arrange payment in another form.  NOTE: Only donate through ActBlue using our own link or QR code.  If you search online, or go to the National site, the funds will go to National, not to our local group.

EVENT VOLUNTEERS:

We could use 4-6 volunteers to staff the sign-in//sign-up table and the merch  table, and keep an eye on the food table.  If you want to help, contact our Administrative volunteer, Andrea, at IndivisibleCIWork@gmail.com

COOKIES:

We are looking for a few star bakers who would be willing to donate some cookies or brownies or other sweet treats to go with the sandwich rolls we are getting.  PLEASE SIGN UP – DON’T JUST BRING SOMETHING.  We need to have some control of how much and what to expect and to make sure we have enough.  Please indicate if nuts/no nuts, gluten-free or any special notes.  Again, let Andrea know what you are willing to bring, at IndivisibleCIWork@gmail.com.  She will get back to you.  Gosh, I might be more excited about this part than anything else!

So put a big note on your calendars for Oct. 7th.  Learn about our struggle to defend our democracy and then have some fun!  I can’t wait.

Thanks to you all!

Marilyn Lagrow
