We are Indivisible Champlain Islands
We are Indivisible Champlain Islands, a non-partisan group of citizens in northwestern Vermont. We’re one of thousands of Indivisible groups across the country taking action to build grassroots power to save democracy and defeat authoritarianism. We are no longer Democrats, Republicans or Independents. We are united as neighbors, concerned about our shared future, for our children, our community and our country. And we are united as patriots who believe that this is a time for courage and collective action. Each of us has a role to play in this rapidly growing national movement.

Hello Indivisibles,
Yesterday was the Special Election in Tennessee to fill a vacant seat in the US House of Representatives. It was in a district that gave Trump a 22 point margin in 2024. So there was little chance of flipping this seat in such a ruby-red district. The candidate running against the Trump-backed candidate was Aftyn Behn, who, incidentally, had worked for the national Indivisible organization back in its early days. She was an amazing candidate and ran a great campaign. But she did not win. However, the Republicans were so frightened that she might, that they out-spent her 2-to-one. Lots of money! And she did reduce the margin from 22 points to just 9 points. A huge shift in the voter preference. Like in all of the other races in Nov., etc., the margins have shifted 7 to 12 points away from Trump-supporting candidates. I will take that as a win, even if we did not pick up a seat in Congress against the Regime this time. Many House members who won GOP seats by less than 15 points are now considered vulnerable. Every seat in the House is up for re-election in 2026. Obviously, if we want to change the direction that this Administration is taking, we have to win one or both houses of Congress in 2026. Many of you Indivisibles, in our group and across the country, participated in phone banks to help Aftyn’s campaign. This is the kind of work that we will continue to do, along with many other approaches, to fix this mess. Thank you, thank you, to all who stepped forward in this effort.
We will also continue to support our communities and our neighbors who are struggling with the fallout from the actions taken by this Administration. We have had a great response to our call for volunteers to help at the FOOD DRIVE we are holding to support the CHAMPLAIN ISLANDS FOOD SHELF THIS SATURDAY, DEC. 6 FROM 11:00 TO 1:00 AT ST. JOSEPH’S CHURCH AT 185 US RT. 2 IN GRAND ISLE.
Please, please, please plan to drop by the Food Drive on Saturday and make a donation. You can donate goods, cash, checks, or use Venmo at our Food Drive. We will have it set up as a “Drive-thru” so you do not have to park, or go inside. Just pull in and our volunteers will take your donations right there.
Here is the info the Food Shelf has sent us about donations:
The most important current needs are canned stews, canned chili, hearty soups, tuna, low sugar cereals, peanut butter & jelly, mayo, ketchup & mustard, cake and cookie mixes.
Of course, any non-perishable food item is much welcomed!
The Food Shelf is always in need of household items like: shampoo, toilet paper, toothpaste & toothbrushes, dish & laundry soap, pet food, diapers, baby wipes and feminine hygiene products
Please note we cannot accept any open packages and LOOK carefully at the expiration dates as we cannot accept any expired food.
As always, cash and check donations are very much appreciated and will be put to good use.
Make checks payable to: Champlain Islands Food Shelf.
If you have volunteered to help on Saturday, you should receive (or have received) an email today from Andrea about your shift time. If you do not receive an email about your shift, or if you want to volunteer, let me know!! And remember to dress warmly. Most of the volunteers will have to be outside during their shift. It will be cold. We have been promised coffee and donuts to take the chill off! And remember to bring your donations for the Food Shelf.
See you on Saturday. Thanks so much for your support!

Indivisible Champlain Islands is hoping you can help support your neighbors by donating to this important food drive. There are many extra pressures on our local families and residents this year. Higher prices, job losses, loss of federal support for heating and food, and so many more issues are impacting us and our neighbors. Can you help us make sure our local food shelf has the donations they need to support all those who are facing financial strain?
We are hoping to make it easy for you to donate. Saturday, Dec. 6, is a big day in the Islands. The annual Craft Show at Grand Isle School is that day. And many local businesses have special events happening that day, as well. Also, the Farmer’s Market is that day in South Hero. So when you are out-and-about for all those events, please stop by the Food Drive and make a donation to support the Food Shelf. You can donate items or make a cash or check donation or use your phone to donate via their QR code (Venmo).
We look forward to seeing you!!

What a Day it was!!

Celebrate Freedom, October 7 @ SnowFarm Winery

Thank you!
Thank you to the Indivisible PATRIOTS that walked in the South Hero parade today [July 4]! It was so nice to hear the roaring support from all of us onlookers as they marched on by. It was awesome to see a group of folks standing up for what this day is actually commemorating – Freedom and Liberty!
