Hello Indivisibles,

There is a lot to keep track of in Sept. and Oct.  

INDIVISIBLE CHAMPLAIN ISLANDS EVENTS:

October 7th:  Snow Farm Vineyards.  We are working to pull together this major event that will combine our next Members’ Meeting, with an invitation to the rest of the community, to join us for an evening to include important news, updates, preview of No Kings II, an exciting Speaker, and …. a BAND.  We are waiting on confirmations and final time slots.  Pencil in 4:00 to 7:00, but it could change!!

October 9th:  Book Club Meeting, Worthen Library,  5:15.  This month’s book is “How to Stand Up to a Dictator” by Maria Ressa (first half of book, next half, next month).  Please use the downstairs entrance to the Library.  To join the group and get more info, contact Alison Valle at alison.e.putnam@gmail.com

October 18th:  NO KINGS II.  This event is still in the early planning stages.  We are working to secure a location and plan the action.  This is the next HUGE nationwide rally planned by the National Indivisible organization and it will be an ‘all hands on deck’ event.  

OTHER IMPORTANT ACTIONS IN OUR AREA

September 20th:  “Make Billionaires Pay”,  Nationwide day of protest organized by Women’s March.  It looks like the main action will be in NYC, but there is also something planned in Montpelier.   Info at makebillioinairespay.us

September 24th:  Snow Farm Vineyards, 5:30 – 7:00 pm,a “Listening Session” with Vermont Treasurer, Mike Pieciak and Vermont State Senator, Kesha Ram Hinsdale.  A chance to ask state officials about the things that are concerning you.  Check our website for flyer.

September 30th:  Indivisible National “Micro Creators”, 4:00 pm. An online  training for Influencers with at least 100 followers.  Learn how to really make a difference in this movement and “become a trusted messenger” as the Disinformation war really heats up.  This will be repeated for 3 months and will be recorded for later viewing.  Details soon.

October 5th: Crop Walk, Sunday, 1:00 pm, Congregational Church in South Hero.  Many working families and individuals in our community and across the country struggle with having enough food.  The severe cuts by the Trump administration and the Tariffs are only making the situation worse.  Indivisible encourages members to support our neighbors who are being hurt by the actions of this regime.  A portion of the money raised goes to local food groups and some goes nationwide.  For more info on how to participate or donate, go to :

Possible Government Shutdown, September 30th: In order for the government to keep paying its bills past this date, the Congress has to pass a new funding resolution.  In the Senate, it will be necessary to have some Democratic votes to achieve this.  This is the only chance to make changes to the Big Bad Bill that is going to cost Americans so much in increased health insurance premiums, and all sorts of other horrible things.  So here is your chance to tell your MOC (Members of Congress) what you want them to demand in exchange for their vote.  Extend the subsidies to the ACA premiums?  Increase taxes on big Corporations to reduce the deficit?  Stop the firing of 83,000 Veterans Services employees (doctors, nurses, counselors, etc)?  Let them know what is important to you, and tell them to stand strong.  Do not cave in to the GOP this time!!!!!  Don’t delay.  No time to waste.

Get plenty of rest.
