Hello Indivisibles,

We are planning a large event for the Friday afternoon before Labor Day Weekend:

HONK AND WAVE IN SOUTH HERO With Indivisible Champlain Islands
Friday, August 29 th * 4-5:30 PM on sidewalks in front of Worthen Library.

Let’s Celebrate Labor Day with a Honk and Wave
Labor Day originated with the late 19 th century labor movement which advocated for a day to recognize the worker’s contributions to our country’s strength and well-being. Labor Day is a tribute to the American workforce.

**The United States is the wealthiest nation in the history of the world but take a look at
these facts:
 Health care workers in danger of being laid off due to loss of Medicaid patients
 Truckers and port workers being laid off due to Trump tariffs
 The cost of living is rising
 Millions can’t find affordable housing
 Our healthcare system is more and more expensive
 Public schools being short changed by the federal government

We must:
 Defend and expand our democracy
 Improve wages and benefits for American people
 Guarantee basic human rights and needs
 Create affordable housing
 Provide affordable, quality education for all including trade schools and universities
 Care for our elderly

Time to get those signs ready !
We must have the courage to fight back against a corrupt political system and to listen to the needs of working families.

Location: On the sidewalks in front of the Worthen Library, Health Center and Wally’s
When: Friday, August 29 th
Time: 4-5:30 pm

*Parking will be available at the Congregational Church on South Street as well as other empty lots in and around South Hero. Please do not block access to our local businesses. For your safety, please cross Rt. 2 from the Community Bank to the opposite side of Rt.2 and continue along the sidewalks to our location.

Please direct questions regarding this event to Berney at bskutel@gmail.com

REMINDER:  STRATEGY SESSION – Wednesday August 20, 5:30 to 7:00 at the North Hero Library.  You must register for this event – no walk-ins.  Reply to this email to register.  DEADLINE TO REGISTER is Tuesday (tomorrow) at noon.  Come and discuss plans and ideas for upcoming actions, recruiting efforts, and all the things that make our movement successful.  This session will be led by Marilyn Lagrow.  Limited to 12 people.

ONE MILLION RISING:  I hope you have all had a chance to watch Session # 3.  The presentation by Rep. Gene Wu of Texas was worth every minute.  And I hope you have held an event or two with friends or acquaintances.  I know of several of you who have already done one.  And they take many forms.  This is the time to build your network of people willing to join with you when we take on the organizations and officials that are supporting the Trump take-over and we demand that they resist instead.  Our power comes from a lot of us all working in unison.

We demand a government Of the People, By the People, For the People.

Marilyn Lagrow
